Welcome to the world of The Endless Whispers. (check out the welcome video)
If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft or old horror movies from the 1960s and 1970s, like Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, The Shining, and Halloween (to name a few of our favorite genre films), then we hope you’ll find something you like here. For those who may not know Lovecraft (or the aforementioned films) perhaps our film and this site will give you a sufficient sampling of the “unspeakable horrors” that you decide to seek out some of his works (I recommend At the Mountains of Madness and The Dunwich Horror as good starting points.)
So what is The Endless Whispers? In a nutshell, it’s a feature film to be shot in October and November of 2014 for a predicted release sometime in May or June of 2015. That second date is very important and I’ll get to it in a minute. It’s heavily inspired by Lovecraft and his contemporaries but not based on any of his works.
One night in 2012, the world as we knew it ended with four words spoken in an ancient, mystical language — words of corruption, madness, despair, and doom.
Three years pass. Our dead world continues to rot. Inside a heavily fortified compound, a reclusive soldier desperately seeks to quiet his inner demons. Outside in the ruined landscape, vicious sub-human creatures hunt the few remaining humans with a preternatural ruthlessness. The survivors barely cling to sanity while a whispering evil endlessly torments them.
When circumstances bring the soldier and some of the survivors together against their will, they soon find it a struggle to simply coexist. Meanwhile, a massive horde of psychotic predators descends upon the compound from all over the shattered city. And when it is revealed that a unseen merciless enemy has infiltrated their ranks, panic and distrust set in.
Although the soldier witnesses the worst humanity has to offer in this eclectic group of uninvited guests, he also sees the best. Can he get them out of the compound alive? Who will resist the faceless terror? And who, God forbid, will submit to it?
The project began just a few months after we finished principal photography for my short film No-Good Maxine around January 2011. After we went through development of several other scripts Chris Jones, our screenwriter, was called in around September of 2012 and began working on his own original script. It quickly grew and we created a huge amount of history to populate the world with and thus was born this website. It’s a place where over time we will gradually release more and more information about the movie as well as a plethora of background material expanding the world and opening a window into something we hope you’ll find…disturbing.
There are three main areas to the site:
- The Journals of Doctor Susan Carter: The journals of Dr. Carter reveal the past that leads up to the fist moments of the film. Between the launch of the site on 10/23/2013 and the release of the film expect to find more and more information about the history and mystery of The Endless Whispers. The first scene of the film will tie in directly with the last information we post live on the site,so those people who get to come to the premiere are in for a treat.
- The Doomed: Here you will find out about all of the major characters in The Endless Whispers. As with the Journals of Dr. Carter, we will be releasing time related material. Short videos will be released for each of the characters giving insight into their thoughts, dreams and fears. There will also be a plethora of other material that will allow the audience to get to know the characters on an intimate level. Actors who are playing the Doomed will actually be responding to fan comments and questions IN CHARACTER.
- Behind the Scenes: This is where you see what went into creating the world of The Endless Whispers. It’s your window into the realm of film making. Cast announcements, crew announcements, scouting location photos, equipment choices, director’s notes, all sorts of things will creep in here over time.
We want you to become immersed in the world of The Endless Whispers; a world much like ours, but where something along the path of history has gone terribly wrong. All that wrongness is now seeping into everything.
And if you listen very closely, too closely, you will hear them. Whispering.
